European Film Promotion (EFP) and its member organisations are delighted to announce that 34 former participants of the PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE programme and 16 actors and actresses of the SHOOTING STARS initiative are involved in 35 films of this year’s festival line-up. Guest producer Volodymyr Yatsenko from the Ukraine joining PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE in Cannes.
Apart from having 14 films in Competition and Out of Competition, the alumni are also involved in a further 21 titles screening in different sections of the festival.
This year’s German Producer on the Move, Fred Burle, coproduced The Secret Agent by Kleber Mendonça Filho with fellow producers from the Netherlands Leontine Petit (2006) and Erik Glijnis (2023) which screens in Competition, while Joachim Trier’s Sentimental Value unites former Producers on the Move from Norway (Maria Ekerhovd, 2011, Andrea Berentsen Ottmar, 2022), Germany (Janine Jackowski, 2009) and Sweden (Lizette Jonjic, 2010).
They already knew each other beforehand and were able to deepen their relationship during the 2017 PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE programme: Anton Máni Svansson from Iceland produced the Cannes Premieres entry The Love That Remains by Hlynur Pálmason together with his French fellow producer of that year, Didar Domehri, as well as with the former Producers on the Move Eva Jakobsen and Mikkel Jersin from Denmark (2014 & 2016) joined by Nima Yousefi from Sweden (2021).
Former Belgian European Shooting Star, Cécile de France stars in two festival films, in Cédric Klapisch's, Colours of Time (Out of Competition) and in the psychological thriller, Dalloway by Yann Gozlan (Midnight Screenings). European Shooting Stars August Diehl (2000 / Germany) and Sven Schelker (2015 / Switzerland) are together in front of the camera in The Disappearance of Josef Mengele. The film by Kirill Serebrennikov is screening in Cannes Premiere.
EFP is delighted to welcome Volodymyr Yatsenko as guest producer from the Ukraine this year. The co-founder of Kyiv-based ForeFilms is taking part in the PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE programme in Cannes onsite. Volodymyr produced films such as, U Are the Universe (2024) by Pavlo Ostrikov or Reflection (2021) and Atlantis (2019) by Valentyn Vasyanovych. He is currently producing Vasyanovych’s recent film, To the Victory! Volodymyr was the first representative of the Ukraine in EURIMAGES from 2020 to 2022 and is a member of the Ukrainian Academy of Motion Picture Arts and European Film Academy.
