°efp supports the discovery of outstanding european films at tiff 2024

European Film Promotion (EFP) is thrilled to highlight 17 European titles from a long list of outstanding European films that will be part of this years‘ line-up at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF, 5-15 September 2024).

17 national film promotion institutes and a further five world sales companies are taking part in the various promotional opportunities offered by EFP, including the EUROPE! HUB. The aim of all activities – whether online in advance or on the spot – is to maximise the visibility of European films at one of the most prestigious festivals in North America.

The EUROPE HUB! as an all access point for and to the European industry at TIFF is made possible thanks to the support of the Creative Europe MEDIA Programme and the participating national film promotion institutes, EFP's member organisations, as well as Eurimages, whose representatives will also be present at EFP’s Hub in the festival's Industry Centre (Hyatt), Mezzanine Level.

17 European films from this years‘ TIFF line-up are being highlighted by their respective countries for EFP’s promotional activities and are running in the various sections of the festival:

Ten of them will be celebrating their world premieres such as: A Missing Part by Guillaume Senez (Belgium, France / Centrepiece), Triumph by Kristina Grozeva and Petar Valchanov (Bulgaria, Greece / Platform), The Quiet Ones by Frederik Louis Hviid (Denmark, Sweden, France / Discovery), Blue Road – The Edna O'Brien Story by Sinéad O'Shea (Ireland, UK/ TIFF Docs), Mr. K by Tallulah H. Schwab (The Netherlands, Belgium, Norway / Platform), Meat by Dimitris Nakos (Greece / Discovery) My Fathers' Daughter by Egil Pedersen (Norway, Finland / Discovery), Ink Wash by Sarra Tsorakidis (Romania, Greece, Denmark / Discovery), The Swedish Torpedo by Frida Kempff (Sweden, Estonia, Belgium, Finland / Centrepiece), The Courageous by Jasmin Gordon (Switzerland / Discovery). Two feature films, one documentary and one short will have their North American premiere at TIFF: Julie Keeps Quiet by Leonardo Van Dijl (Belgium, Sweden / Centrepiece), When The Light Breaks by Rúnar Rúnarsson (Iceland, The Netherlands, Croatia, France / Centrepiece), Wishing on a Star by Peter Kerekes (Italy, Slovak Republic, Czech Republic, Austria, Croatia / TIFF Docs), Sauna Day by Anna Hints, Tushar Prakash (Estonia / Short Cuts I), The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent by Nebojša Slijepčević (Croatia, Bulgaria, France, Slovenia / Short Cuts III). Fabian Stumm’s Sad Jokes (Germany / Discovery) will be celebrating its International Premiere while 100 Litres of Gold by Teemu Nikki (Finland) is running in the Industry Selects.

Prior to the festival, EFP hosted a special, exclusive online event in cooperation with TIFF Industry for North American distributors to see six of the ten aforementioned world premieres.

The world sales contacts at EFP’s Hub for A Missing Part is Be For Films; TrustNordisk for The Quiet Ones, LevelK for Mr. K. and Films Boutique for Wishing on a Star.

In addition to the support from Creative Europe MEDIA, the EUROPE! Hub is made possible thanks to Eurimages, as well as the participating national film promotion institutes, EFP’s member organisations: Croatian Audiovisual Centre, Czech Film Center, Danish Film Institute, Finnish Film Foundation, Flanders Image/Belgium, German Films, Icelandic Film Centre, Norwegian Film Institute, SEE NL/The Netherlands, Swedish Film Institute, Wallonie Bruxelles Images/Belgium. Media Partner is Film Verdict.

The EFP member organisations Cinecittà/Italy, Instituto de la Cinematografía y de las Artes Audiovisuales / ICAA (Spain) and the Polish Film Institute will be operating their own individual stands alongside and in addition to the EUROPE! Hub.
