not sorry at all – fss promotes great number of european films in berlin

65 brand-new films from across Europe are receiving a promotional push with EFP’s (European Film Promotion) Film Sales Support at the European Film Market, taking place 12 – 18 February this year.

The established financial Film Sales Support (FSS) incentive, which is part of EFP’s manifold programmes, is awarding a grand total of more than €105,000 to 29 EFP-affiliated world sales companies to strengthen their digital marketing campaigns and fast-track sales of European films to countries outside of Europe. FSS is providing the sales agents with this extra clout for the promotion of 48 fiction films (including two children’s films), 16 documentaries and one animation to buyers in overseas at one of the most important annual international film markets.

The financial support, which must be equally matched by the beneficiary sales agents, also includes FSS Top-Up Grants for the promotion of 13 films portraying DEI themes and topics. The top-ups increase the maximum achievable amount of €5,000 per application by an additional €500.

Amongst these films are Panorama titles, Allegro Pastell by Anna Roller (Germany / Totem Films), Everyone’s Sorry Nowadays by Frederike Migom (Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany / LevelK), I Understand Your Displeasure by Kilian Armando Friedrich (Germany / Films Boutique) and the documentary, The Hidden Face of The Earth by Arnaud Alain (France / Outplay Films), to name a few.

A snapshot of further titles in the FSS-portfolio comprises Alain Gomis’ family and heritage drama in Berlinale Competition, DAO (France, Guinea Bissau, Senegal / The Party Film Sales), Four Minus Three by Adrian Goiginger (Austria, Germany / Beta Cinema) - screening in Panorama - , the adventurous children’s film Atlas of the Universe by Paul Negoescu (Romania, Bulgaria / Pluto Film Distribution) showing in the Berlinale’s Generation section, coming-of-age documentary, Flophouse America by Monica Strømdahl (Norway, The Netherlands, USA / Lightdox), Pupi Avati’s new film, The Warmth of Dance (Italy / Minerva Pictures), The Musician and the Whale by Valentin Paoli (France / Pulsar Content) – an extraordinary encounter between man and animal - as well as the pastoral-horror fantasy, Motherwitch by Cypriot director, Minos Papas (Cyprus, North Macedonia, USA / B-Rated International).

The 64 films representing Europe’s richness and diversity are up for worldwide sales or pre-sales at the EFM by the respective world sales companies.
