Four of the ten up-and-coming directors whose short films were presented earlier this year as part of the EFP programme FUTURE FRAMES at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (KVIFF) will continue their journey at the Seville European Film Festival (7–15 Nov. 2025). For the second year running, FUTURE FRAMES will be part of the festival, highlighting promising new voices in European cinema.
The following directors will present their films at the festival: Mila Ryngaert (Belgium, Karaokiss), Veera Lamminpää (Finland, Fish River Anthology), and Ruairi Bradley (Ireland, We Beg to Differ). Nausica Serra (Spain, Dissection of an Incoherence in Crisis) will also compete with her short film in the festival’s Official Short Film Section.
“We are thrilled to return to Seville with FUTURE FRAMES. This collaboration not only excites us but also gives the filmmakers a wonderful opportunity to present their work to Spanish audiences and to connect with the local industry,” says Sonja Heinen, Managing Director of EFP.
“For the Seville Festival, it is an honour to host FUTURE FRAMES, because it naturally connects with our mission to discover and support the new talents of European cinema," echoes the festival’s director, Manuel Cristóbal. "This collaboration allows us to build a bridge between young filmmakers who are beginning to make their mark and an audience that seeks fresh, daring, and committed voices every year. Incorporating FUTURE FRAMES into our programme ultimately reaffirms our role as a space of discovery and projection for those who will write the future of cinema in Europe.”
Launched at KVIFF in 2015, FUTURE FRAMES has become a springboard for emerging European directors, many of whom have since gone on to present their films at major international festivals and build successful careers in the industry. The collaboration with Seville expands the programme's reach to Southern Europe, connecting fresh voices in European cinema with Spanish audiences and industry.
At the Seville European Film Festival, the four filmmakers will present their short films in a special screening, followed by film talks with the audience. They will also participate in Seville’s industry programme, FRAME Sevilla.
EFP FUTURE FRAMES is made possible thanks to the support of Creative Europe – the MEDIA Programme of the European Union as well as the participating national film promotion institutes, EFP's member organisations.
