film sales support (fss)
Rounding off EFP’s activities to strongly promote European cinema in Busan, seven world sales companies are receiving Film Sales Support (FSS) for the promotion of 14 European films at the ACFM. FSS which comes in the form of grants, totaling € 25.971,75, covers expenses for both digital and analog marketing measures undertaken by the sales agents as part of customized and innovative campaigns to the region, sellers either being onsite or online. As a crucial market between TIFF, Venice and the AFM, the important autumn Busan market gives world sales companies the chance to put forward their latest and forthcoming films from across Europe to Asian buyers who might not have attended the aforementioned international film festivals.
Caravan, a mother-and-son road trip movie by Zuzana Kirchnerová (Czech Republic, Slovak Republic Italy / Alpha Violet) which screened in Un Certain Regard in Cannes, genre title Buzzheart by Dennis Iliadis (Greece / B-Rated International SAS) and The First Child by Mara Fondacaro (Italy / Minerva Pictures), playing with the supernatural are amongst the 14 films that are receiving a promotional push via FSS. Likewise, the suspenseful drama, To New Beginnings by Paprika Steen (Denmark) and the powerful and deeply touching, The Murder of Benjamin by Ingvild Søderlind (Norway) are benefitting from the support. The latter films which are still in post-production are sold by TrustNordisk.
