Following its international journey to partner festivals in Sydney, Busan, and Rio de Janeiro, EFP European Film Promotion will wrap up this year’s EUROPE! Voices of Women+ in Film programme with its first-ever Virtual Summit on 9–10 December, 2025. The initiative brings together and supports eleven European women and genderqueer filmmakers working on their second, third or fourth feature film.
Eleven filmmakers, who had previously presented their works at EFP’s partner festivals, have been selected for this inaugural edition: Malene Choi (Sydney Film Festival 2023 – The Quiet Migration), Eline Gehring (Sydney Film Festival 2021 – Nico), Anna Hints (Sydney Film Festival 2023 – Smoke Sauna Sisterhood), Johanna Moder (Festival do Rio 2025 – Mother’s Baby), Álfrún Helga Örnólfsdóttir (Sydney Film Festival 2023 – Band), Robin Petré (Sydney Film Festival 2021 – From the Wild Sea), Annika Pinske (Sydney Film Festival 2022 – Talking About the Weather), Avelina Prat (Festival do Rio 2025 – The Portuguese House), Marta Savina (Sydney Film Festival 2023 – Primadonna), Maja Tschumi (Sydney Film Festival 2024 – Immortals) and Eva Vitija (Sydney Film Festival 2022 – Loving Highsmith).
The Summit will open with a kick-off meeting entitled “A Room of One’s Own” reflecting on the time and space needed for creative writing and artistic development in filmmaking. At the centre of the two-day event are tailor-made 1:1 meetings, allowing the selected filmmakers and their producers opportunities to discuss their upcoming projects with potential co-producers, sales agents, and casting directors. Additional programme elements include a small group session on Working with Eurimages, a dedicated session with a casting director, a presentation of training programmes designed for women and genderqueer directors and producers, and two expert-led interactive roundtables exploring research processes for authentic storytelling and providing insight into key aspects of creative collaboration between directors and producers.
With this new Networking Summit, EFP is aiming to strengthen its commitment to gender equity, artistic innovation, and cross-border collaboration within European cinema.
