EFP (European Film Promotion) and its member organisations congratulate 50 participants of EFP's talent programmes EUROPEAN SHOOTING STARS and PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE (PoM), who are involved in 38 films and series in the various sections of this year's Berlinale.
The impressive line-up of all participants once again confirms the multifaceted quality of European cinema. The German shooting star of 2018, Franz Rogowski, can be seen on screen twice: in the Competition entry Disco Boy by Giacomo Abbruzzese, co-produced by Maria Blicharska (PoM Poland) and Marco Alessi (PoM Italy) and in Ira Sachs' Passage, which runs in the Panorama section. Christoph Hochhäusler's competition film Till the End of the Night was produced by Bettina Brokemper (PoM, Germany) who is one of the co-producers of Margarethe von Trotta's Ingeborg Bachmann – Journey into the Desert alongside her colleagues Alexander Dumreicher-Ivanceanu (PoM Austria) and Katrin Renz (PoM Switzerland). The film with Shooting Star Luna Wedler (Switzerland), among others, is running in the Competition. Frauke Finsterwalder's Sisi & I (Panorama) brings together Shooting Stars Johanna Wokalek (Germany) and Georg Friedrich (Austria), produced by Anne Walser (PoM, Switzerland). Former Shooting Star Nicolaj Lie Kaas (Denmak) switched to screenwriting and directing for Agents (Berlinale Series). Kaas' acting colleague and Esben Smed (Denmark) stars in the series about a man with his heart in the right place but with the wrong priorities, produced by Louise Vesth (PoM Denmark).
The new generation of acting talent is part of this year's programme: The German shooting star of 2023, Leonie Benesch, can be seen in the Panorama entry The Teachers' Lounge by Iker Çatak and alongside former Shooting Star Cécile de France in the series The Swarm by Barbara Eder, Luke Watson and Philipp Stölzl.
