EFP European Film Promotion will once again spotlight Europe’s most promising emerging producers with the 27th edition of PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE, taking place during the 79th Cannes Film Festival 2026 (12 – 23 May 2026).
The well-established programme will bring together 20 producers from 20 different European countries, selected for their strong international track records and future potential. Participants are nominated by their respective national film promotion institutes, all members of EFP, and chosen through a rigorous points-based selection process. Eligibility criteria include experience with at least one international co-production, as well as films that have screened at major international festivals or achieved distribution beyond their countries of (co-)production.
PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE 2026 will be held in a hybrid format, combining preparatory online sessions ahead of the festival 28-30 April with an intensive on-site programme in Cannes two weeks later. Once selected, the producers will participate in a tailored series of activities, including project pitchings, one-on-one meetings, curated case studies and networking events designed to foster international collaboration. The programme is accompanied by a comprehensive international promotion campaign, featuring online presentations and visibility in leading international trade publications.
Since
its inception, PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE has supported the international
careers of European producers and strengthened cross-border
collaboration within the industry. Over the past 26 years, 546 producers
from across Europe have taken part in the programme. The initiative
continues to serve as a vital platform for the next generation of
European filmmaking talent at one of the world’s most influential film
festivals.
Producers interested in participating in PRODUCERS ON THE
MOVE 2026 are encouraged to contact their national film promotion institutes.
PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE is financially supported by the European Union’s Creative Europe – MEDIA Programme, Eurimages, as well as European national film promotion institutes, the member organisations of EFP.
