European Film Promotion (EFP) is joining forces with the Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival (3 – 13 October) ) to give prominence to the depth and scope of European films by women and genderqueer film directors who are part of the official festival programme 2024.
This year’s programme includes 32 feature and documentary films by 32 European women filmmakers or genderqueer directors from 9 European countries, labelled with EFP’s programme logo ‘EUROPE! Voices of Women+ in Film’ to increase the perception of pioneering artists from Europe and to promote this particular initiative as a “programme of empowerment”.
In addition to the film programme, the festival is organising two panels with European and Latin-American film industry professionals in the RioMarket to discuss the state of affairs concerning women’s presence in the film industry and necessary alliances.
